Fuel Products Overview
TPC Group offers products such as methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) and feedstocks (raffinates) that are ultimately blended into gasoline to enhance octane value and lower the environmental impact from gasoline combustion in automobiles. These products offer the following attributes:
- High octane for use in high-efficiency combustion engines resulting in improved fuel mileage in newer vehicles
- Improved combustion resulting in lower air emissions
- Low RVP (Reid Vapor Pressure) that lowers the volatility of gasoline
At TPC Group, we have an extensive logistics network that ensures efficient receipt of raw materials and delivery of our products regardless of shipment mode. Raw materials and products are delivered by pipeline, ship, barge and rail. TPC Group has substantial storage facilities, pipelines, and world-class dock and rail facilities to manage raw material receipts and finished product deliveries to our customers.
MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether)
Produced by TPC Group at our Houston plant, methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) is an octane and oxygen-rich gasoline blending component used to improve gasoline combustion characteristics and reduce air emissions.
Raffinates (feedstocks)
TPC Group produces raffinate products at both our Houston and Port Neches facilities. Raffinates are primarily a mixture of butylenes and butane. These products are used as feedstock in the production of alkylate, a high-octane gasoline blending component.
